<p> Well, I took my oldest back to college and spent a lot<br />
 of time driving and thinking. What I told both of my sons<br />
 as I was hugging them goodbye was a line from Dead Poet&#8217;s<br />
 Society. The line reflected exactly what I was thinking<br />
 AND feeling. I told them:</p>
<p> &#8220;Go out and make your life extraordinary.&#8221;</p>
<p> They were both so excited. One was going to live in a<br />
 fraternity for the first time and the other was moving<br />
 into his first apartment. I felt myself getting excited<br />
 for them.</p>
<p> Time flies in a blink of time. The future belongs to them.<br />
 Our generation of baby boomers has been the most self-<br />
 indulgent generation ever. We have left them a mess&#8230;but<br />
 I believe in them and their future.</p>

 at my personal life. I am a bit sad today because I took<br />
 one son off to college Saturday and am taking my oldest<br />
 Thursday. </p>
<p> I enjoyed them so much this summer. My youngest son is<br />
 6&#8242;2&#8243; 185 pounds and went from being the guy who would get<br />
 sand kicked in his face to a mountain of a young man and<br />
 is knocking on the door to starting at fullback on one<br />
 of the best teams in the state.</p>
<p> Maybe all parents are proud of their children. I have been<br />
 one difficult parent in trying to infuse the values and<br />
 moral codes you see in QAD&#8230; And now they are on their<br />
 own. At once sad and yet this is what I lived for.</p>
<p> Sorry for the overly personal anecdote. But I am really<br />
 going through the oddest blend of happiness and melancholy<br />
